The main SoC tree is housed on git.kernel.org:

Perhaps one of the most important things to hi

If changes are being made to a devicetree that
kernels, the devicetree patch should not be ap
appropriate time later. Most importantly, any

A common problem is synchronizing changes betw
files. Even if a change is compatible in both
coordinating how the changes get merged throug

Usually the branch that includes a driver chan
corresponding change to the devicetree binding
in fact compatible. This means that the devic

There are multiple ways to deal with this:

* Avoid defining custom macros in include/dt-b
  that can be derived from a datasheet -- bind

* Use literal values in the devicetree file in
  header is required, and change them to the n
  following release

* Defer the devicetree changes to a release af
  already been merged

* Change the bindings in a shared immutable br
  both the driver change and the devicetree ch

* Add duplicate defines in the devicetree file
  removing them in a later release

``make dtbs_check`` can be used to validate th

Branches and Pull Requests
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just as the main SoC tree has several branches
submaintainers will do the same. Driver, defco
all be split into separate branches and appear
SoC maintainers.  Each branch should be usable
regressions that originate from dependencies o
Small sets of patches can also be sent as sepa
grouped into the same categories.
top-level branches, e.g. for a treewide rework
platforms including dts files and drivers.
Branches with a lot of changes can benefit fro
topics branches, even if they end up getting m
SoC tree.  An example here would be one branch
for a rework and one for newly added boards.
Another common way to split up changes is to s
Pull requests for bugfixes for the current rel
The subject line of a pull request should begi
a signed tag, rather than a branch.  This tag
requests, please see Documentation/maintainer/
